'What
a challenge - daunting.
'Sunday's concert was superb. My wife and I enjoyed every moment and
'It
was a superb evening and it was good to hear the Birkenhead Choral so well together . . . . .I certainly look forward to future similar events.' Headmaster, Merchant Taylors' School
'...Then, the concert. It was BRILLIANT! I can't recall ever hearing the Elijah before but it was absolutely a stunning performance.' We all really enjoyed the evening. (from Sally)
'I had the privilege to be at the first combined
concert given by FCS with Birkenhead and Merchants, back in 1994. That
Gerontius was something special, the 1996 Verdi was
exciting, the 1998 Carmina typically exuberant, and the
Glorias of 2000 a fitting concert for the new Millenium. The
Verdi and Gerontius of 2002 & 2004
respectively probably outshone those of the previous century - but now
2006 and Elijah .... words escape me to describe last night's
performance. Spectacular, enthralling, stunning, magnificent,
uplifting - all come to mind - but words can't really describe the experience of
the evening. You would certainly be hard pushed to find a better performance
anywhere. The choirs are Amateurs, in the real sense of the
word; but this had far more than a professional performance.
It had genuine commitment, enthusiasm, finesse, panache - everything to make
Mendelssohn's desire for the dramatic element of the story to come through. I
could go on, but must end by sending my sincerest congratulations to all
concerned.' |
We are pleased and proud to have received emails, letters and telephone calls from a large number of other supporters echoing these sentiments. Thank you to all who helped, supported, and came to enjoy the concert.
